Because Solar Panels are Sexier than Insulation...

In July of this year, Governor Patrick signed the Green Communities Act (GCA) into law. I'm working on something for a client, and I needed to read the entire bloody act, all 65 pages of it. Boring? No way!

The GCA aims to encourage renewable energy production and use in the Commonwealth. Surprisingly, it does little to encourage (via tax credits or other incentives) the application of energy efficiency materials and technology. So, while the Green Communities Act allows you to receive a tax incentive for putting a solar panel on your roof, your poorly insulated attic will still be heating the neighborhood with all that green energy you created.

Doesn't sound all that green to me.
